Twitchell Canyon fire blazed by wind towards Herriman
Firefighters work on controlling the central Utah Twitchell Canyon Fire located in Fishlake National Forest. It had grown to about 22,800 acres. Thirty-five mile per hour wind gusts hampering efforts to put out the fast moving fire.
National Weather Service is continuing issuance of a Red Flag Warning. Twitchell Canyon fire in Fishlake National Forest sparked by lightning in late July. Fishlake National Forest is located in south central Utah, USA. Its namesake is the largest freshwater mountain lake in the state. Established in 1907, the forest covers 1.5 million acres (6,070 km²) and is split into four districts. There are local ranger district offices in Beaver, Fillmore, Loa, and Richfield.
