Hurricane Igor strikes Bermuda, Massachusetts and Rhode Island Coastal

Hurricane Igor is striking Bermuda's beaches with big waves this Sunday. The height of surf is at least of 15-foot (5-meter). The hurricane is likely to affect southern coastal Massachusetts and Rhode Island too on Monday.

Fred Swan, a 52-year-old teacher said "We prayed that the storm would be downgraded, and it looks like our prayers have been answered." National Weather Service will continue to monitor offshore seas that have resulted in strong waves and dangerous rip currents on vulnerable beaches.

Forecasters in Canada are warning residents of eastern Nova Scotia and much of Newfoundland to brace for heavy rain on Monday and Tuesday. Canadian Hurricane Centre says Igor's rain bands are expected to interact with a trough of low pressure over Newfoundland.
