Lee Westwood will play at Ryder Cup 2010

Lee Westwood will play at Ryder Cup 2010

Lee Westwood has exposed he has made 'great progress' ahead of his fitness deadline for the Ryder Cup. World No 3 Westwood has been struggling with a torn calf muscle which flared up in June during the French Open.

Westwood, 37, is unlikely to play competitively before the Ryder Cup. The player will take part in a company golf day this week. At Archerfield Golf Club will see Westwood walk 36 holes for the first time since the injury, and the Briton has confirmed that Friday. "I haven't had any pain for three weeks," said Westwood. "I've made great progress. I'm pretty strong at the moment. I'd be fine playing in all five matches."
