Travelers to pay for US Tourism Promotion

Visitors traveling to the United States start paying a $14 fee to promote travel. Travelers from 36 nations will be required to pay a new travel fee. The eligibility of travelers to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program will be assessing a $14 fee as required by the Travel Promotion Act.

Jeff Freeman, executive vice president of the U.S. Travel Association, said the fee, which may generate will pay for advertisements, trade-show participation and journalist visits “to convince travelers around the world that we want their business.” The countries include the U.K., Japan, Germany, France, South Korea and Australia.
