Israel Tourism Boom - Record year in number of tourists
Israel has verified travelers are no longer being deterred by sensationalized media by hitting a record-setting 1.6 million tourists in the first half of 2010.
According to Ami Etgar, director general of the Israel Incoming Tour Operators Association "This is a country that every person in the world has a motivation to visit."
Israel’s tourism boom, includs policies that allow more airlines to land in the country, visitors to Israel are non-Jewish and growing evangelical market. Tourism in Israel is one of the country's major sources of income, with 2.7 million tourists in 2009. Large number of the tourists are day trippers visiting from Egypt, Jordan, Cyprus, and Turkey. North America remains the no. 1 source of tourists to Israel.
