President Barack Obama’s Economy Adviser to quit

President Barack Obama's top economic adviser Larry Summers will leave the White House at the end of the year. White House economic adviser Larry Summers said he will leave his job, marking a major staff shake-up for US president Barack Obama as he faces growing pressure to renew the slow economy.

Mr. President said: “While we have much work ahead to repair the damage done by the recession, we are on a better path thanks in no small measure to Larry's wise counsel.”

Lawrence Henry Summers is the Charles W. Eliot University Professor at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Summers also served as the 27th President of Harvard University from 2001 to 2006.

Chinese premier Wen Jiabao wants Japan free boat captain

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao urged Japan to release a detained Chinese boat captain. Wen Jiabao threatened further action against Japan if not it releases a Chinese sea captain.

Mr Wen insisted the urgent release of the captain who was arrested by Tokyo following a crash between his fishing boat and two Japanese patrol vessels near disputed islands.

The clash exploded on September 7 when the Chinese fishing trawler and Japanese coastguard vessels collided near the islands. China says it will not meet Japanese leaders at a United Nations summit in New York. "Bears full responsibility for the situation, and it will bear all consequences" said Mr Wen Jiabao.

North Korea Set for leadership meeting September 28

North Korea's ruling communist party will hold a major conference next week to elect a new leadership. The meeting had been slated to start in early September. The meeting will be the biggest political meeting in North Korea since 1980.

The Workers' Party meeting will be closely watched for clues to whether the country's aging supreme leader. Kim Jong Il will succeed his father relies mostly on opaque clues. He eventually became leader after his father's death in 1994. Worker's Party of Korea said: "The conference of the WPK for electing its supreme leadership body will take place in Pyongyang on Sept. 28."

Twitchell Canyon fire blazed by wind towards Herriman

Firefighters work on controlling the central Utah Twitchell Canyon Fire located in Fishlake National Forest. It had grown to about 22,800 acres. Thirty-five mile per hour wind gusts hampering efforts to put out the fast moving fire.

National Weather Service is continuing issuance of a Red Flag Warning. Twitchell Canyon fire in Fishlake National Forest sparked by lightning in late July. Fishlake National Forest is located in south central Utah, USA. Its namesake is the largest freshwater mountain lake in the state. Established in 1907, the forest covers 1.5 million acres (6,070 km²) and is split into four districts. There are local ranger district offices in Beaver, Fillmore, Loa, and Richfield.

Sweden center right coalition wins re election with 172 seats

Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt failed to win a new majority in Sunday's national elections. Sweden's ruling center-right coalition won re-election. Sweden Democrats have won 20 of the 349 seats, red-green opposition had 157 seats.

Reinfeldt said: "The Swedish people have cast their vote, and they have ruled that we are the ones who should keep governing." The ruling coalition won 172 seats, while Sahlin's group took 157 in the 349-seat parliament.

Sweden Democrats that became the first new party to enter the national legislature since 1991 rejecting either bloc a majority. Sweden's red-green opposition coalition, Mona Sahlin said: "We have lost," stressing that the center-right coalition also failed to get an outright majority.

Hurricane Igor strikes Bermuda, Massachusetts and Rhode Island Coastal

Hurricane Igor is striking Bermuda's beaches with big waves this Sunday. The height of surf is at least of 15-foot (5-meter). The hurricane is likely to affect southern coastal Massachusetts and Rhode Island too on Monday.

Fred Swan, a 52-year-old teacher said "We prayed that the storm would be downgraded, and it looks like our prayers have been answered." National Weather Service will continue to monitor offshore seas that have resulted in strong waves and dangerous rip currents on vulnerable beaches.

Forecasters in Canada are warning residents of eastern Nova Scotia and much of Newfoundland to brace for heavy rain on Monday and Tuesday. Canadian Hurricane Centre says Igor's rain bands are expected to interact with a trough of low pressure over Newfoundland.

Tornado in Queens, Brooklyn one killed

National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Brooklyn, Queen and Staten Island in Monmouth and Ocean counties. Many trees were fallen down, several buildings were damaged heavily cars were destroyed and also one person was left dead by the storm.

A woman was killed when a tree toppled onto her vehicle on the Grand Central Parkway near Jewel Avenue. There was a lot of damage due to winds of over 100 miles per hour, and a driving rain storm, and at the center of all of this a tornado. Due the storm, more than 24,000 people were left without power in the Queens and about 4,800 households in the Staten Island.
